Every time I make a doll I go through a process that never fails to send me nuts! lol. I'm content with the knowledge that I am not better or worse than anyone. lol. I think the dolls really do look better in person and I just wish there was a way to show this. Every photo shoot is a challenge and every time I find myself feeling down that I can not allow for others to reach out and touch each baby doll. A photo is never going to be the same as seeing in real life. I'm glad that I have always had my customers thankful that their baby doll is every bit as realistic in real life however, it's still frustrating that I can not show them prior.
I find that the photos can get in the way of the subject (The reborn baby). Selling reborn dolls on ebay has always called for a neat presentation of 30-40 photos. So should a better dressed and photographed doll sell better than a more realistic doll? Where does one best put their time? Presentation or Reborning? Should be a balance right? Personally I like to put the creation of the reborn doll first but I often see how taking longer on the photos and presentation could assist in a better sale and more publicity.
Fact is selling on the internet can give people a false sense of what is real if the seller does not ensure that the presentation and photos match what is real. It must be very confusing for the buyer.
The bottom line is.. the hard working artist with integrity will not be seen in the end if their photos are not polished to the same degree as others.
